Prior to working on your pet, our K9 Oral hygiene specialist will determine through the oral examination whether your pet is an eligible candidate for our services. This examination will take place during your free consultation.
It is important to note that this is not a veterinarian procedure, therefore extractions and pocket cleaning below the gum line will not be performed as those services require the use of anesthesia and are practised by veterinarian clinics.
If your dog or cat shows no signs of medical distress and/or infection throughout the oral cavity then we may begin the sedation-free cleaning.
The procedure begins by placing your pet comfortably on our laps in a position that is best suited to their preference. Each pet is unique, and we dedicate ourselves to providing individual attention that they deserve, allowing us to understand what makes them the most comfortable during the cleaning. Trained in animal behaviour, our K9 Oral hygiene specialist is very attentive to the needs and desires of each pet during the cleaning to ensure a calm, positive, safe experience.
Once your pet is adjusted and comfortable on our laps we then begin slowly introducing them to the Ultrasonic scaler. All plaque and calculus will be removed on all surfaces of the teeth above the gum line and then followed up with a professional polish and complimentary gum conditioner treatment.
At the end of the cleaning, we will discuss home care, as well as give you the opportunity to learn how to brush at home so you can keep up with your pet’s oral hygiene!
